Technical specification of VW Crafter 2006

Volkswagen Crafter I made its debut on the European market in 2006, as the successor to the well-deserved LT model. The German concern VAG decided to cooperate with Daimler AG in order to create a twin model of a delivery vehicle. Laurent Boulay was responsible for the bodywork design, and the vehicle was part of the E-segment vans with a gross vehicle weight of up to 3.5 tons. There were also versions with a GVM up to 3000 kg. Volkswagen Crafter I was produced in two German plants: Düsseldorf and Ludwigsfelde. This is the most important technical data of the Volkswagen Crafter 2006.

The VW Crafter I was initially only available with rear-wheel drive (RWD). In 2011, a four-wheel drive version (4Motion) was introduced. The Crafter-based minubus offers two to nine seats. There were two types of gearbox in the vehicle: 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic. The Volkswagen delivery van was available in over 200 different versions, the most popular of which were: van, flatbed, minibus and a chassis to be built in. In 2011, the Volkswagen Crafter I underwent a facelift, leading to changes to the front of the vehicle. Elements such as the radiator grille or even the dashboard in the driver's cabin have been changed. The manufacturer also introduced a new generation of diesel engines with the Common-Rail system, which offered lower exhaust emissions to the atmosphere. The Volskwagen Crafter 2006-2016 was available with three wheelbases, four length versions and three height types.

Volkswagen Crafter 2006-2016 Equipment

The Volkswagen Crafter I delivery van was factory-equipped with ABS, ESP, ASR and central locking. Standard equipment included: adjustable steering wheel, adjustable driver's seat, cup holders, electric control of windows and mirrors. It was richer equipment than in the base versions of vans from other manufacturers. They can be successfully compared to the equipment used in passenger cars.

Optional equipment on VW Crafter 2006 included air conditioning, towing hook, automatic transmission. Among the available equipment, there was even a glass roof, giving the bus an additional character. There was also an alarm, cruise control, reversing signals and a third brake light. Volkswagen Crafter I had an extensive system of sensors supporting the driver, including: rain, twilight, tire pressure sensors and parking sensors. Non-standard equipment of VW Crafter 2006 may also result from individual bodywork. Volkswagen Crafter was converted into a camper, ambulance, police cars or even special vehicles for transporting glass.
