Regular oil changes in the drivetrain are crucial to maintain smooth gear changes and protect wearing parts. In the automatic versions of the Sprinter III, ATF oil according to the Mercedes-Benz specification (e.g. MB 236.14) should generally be used. A GL-4 gear oil is often used for manual gearboxes. Normally, the recommended change intervals are between 60,000 and 80,000 kilometres, depending on the operating conditions.
