Technical Specifications of the 2006 Mercedes Sprinter
The Mercedes Sprinter II was introduced in 2006 at the RAI Amsterdam exhibition. This model was developed as a twin version of the Volkswagen Crafter. Mercedes collaborated with the VAG group to create a versatile and durable delivery vehicle. The body design was overseen by Laurent Boulay. The Mercedes Sprinter 2006 offered permissible gross weights ranging from 3 to 5 tons. A notable variation was a model with a reduced gross weight of 4,600 kilograms, featuring Super Single tires on the rear axle. Production of the Mercedes Sprinter II took place in Buenos Aires, Düsseldorf, and Ludwigsfelde factories.
The second generation Mercedes Sprinter came standard with rear-wheel drive, and later a 4x4 version was added, requiring a more powerful engine. The 2006 Mercedes Sprinter was manufactured in four lengths and three heights. The L4H3 version featured an extended rear section, providing a total cargo volume of 17 m³. It was available in four main body styles: a 4-door panel van, a 2-door box, a 4-door cab, and a 4-door minibus. However, the total number of configurations exceeded a thousand. Customers could choose between two gearboxes: a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic. The 2006 model had optimized dimensions for increased cargo capacity and length.

Equipment of the 2006 Mercedes Sprinter
The Mercedes Sprinter 2006 is classified as an E-segment delivery van. Renowned for comfort and durability, Mercedes vans have always embodied the brand's high standards. The standard equipment in the second-generation Sprinter included features previously considered optional, emphasizing safety with systems like ESP, ABS, ASR, MSR, BAS, and EBD. A driver’s airbag was also standard. The advanced ESP system of 2006 adjusted according to the vehicle’s center of gravity. The battery was located beneath the driver’s feet to prevent damage. The 2.2 CDI engine range was updated in 2009 and later complied with Euro VI standards by 2013.
Optional features included side airbags, air curtains, and the MSS system, which shut the engine off when stationary, though limited to manual gearbox models. Four-wheel-drive Sprinters could be fitted with an off-road gear reducer. In 2013, a facelift brought modernized styling and upgraded equipment, reflecting technological advancements over the previous seven years. Optional features included the Becker audio system, advanced navigation, collision prevention systems, blind spot warnings, and lane assist, raising the Sprinter’s class. This summarizes the technical details of the Mercedes Sprinter from 2006 to 2018.
