Ford Transit Service Indicator Reset Guide

This guide outlines how to reset the oil and service reminder on the most common Ford Transit generations, using procedures consistent with manufacturer recommendations. When a service notification or oil change reminder appears on the dashboard, it indicates that the vehicle has reached its scheduled maintenance interval. After performing an oil change or routine service, resetting the system is necessary so the next maintenance cycle can be calculated correctly.

Important: These instructions apply only to maintenance reminders. They do not cover the red oil pressure warning light or alerts caused by mechanical faults. Resetting the indicator will only clear the message and will not fix any underlying issue.

  3. Fully depress the brake pedal.
  4. Fully depress the accelerator pedal.

Reasons Why the Service Light Does Not Reset

If the reminder remains active after completing the steps, possible causes include:

  • - Incorrect ignition setting during the procedure
  • - Pedals not fully pressed
  • - Insufficient time holding the reset sequence
  • - Presence of an active fault code
  • - Incorrect reset method for the specific model year

If the issue persists, diagnostic equipment may be required to complete the reset.

Additional Recommendations

Always perform the reset only after completing the required maintenance work. Resetting the indicator without servicing the vehicle may result in incorrect service intervals. If you are unsure about your Ford Transit version, refer to the model identification section on our website.
