Specifications of Fiat Ducato II by Transit Center.
The second generation of the Fiat Ducato was crafted by one of the most renowned designers of passenger and commercial vehicles, Giorgetto Giugiaro of Ital Design. The design process began in 1987, culminating in the final product showcased at the Commercial Vehicle Show in Geneva in 1994. With its contemporary, aerodynamic appearance and highly efficient engines, the second-generation Fiat Ducato earned the prestigious Van of the Year 1995 award, a significant accolade in the commercial vehicle industry.
The second-generation Fiat Ducato was available in various configurations and manufactured in three locations: Val di Sangro (as with its predecessor), Sete Lagoas (Brazil), and Jelabuga (Russia). Remarkably, production in Brazil continued until 2018! Ducato II was offered in several forms, including vans with three wheelbase options (2850 mm, 3200 mm, and 3700 mm), station wagons (5-9 seats), minibuses (12-15 seats), chassis with a cab, dump trucks, customized bodywork, frame chassis, and cabins with drivetrain systems. In 2002, the model received a facelift featuring updates to the front, including redesigned headlights, grille, and bumper, giving it a more modern look. The interior and engines were also upgraded, and a 4x4 variant was introduced to the lineup.
The engine lineup was so diverse that it catered to a wide range of customer preferences. Buyers could choose from three petrol engines, two of which were powered by 2.0 Natural Power (CNG) and 2.0 (LPG). Additionally, there were 15 diesel engine options, ranging in power from 68 to 146 HP, including the 2.8 JTD Power engine introduced in the facelifted models. All petrol engines had a two-liter capacity, while the diesel engines were available in 1.9, 2.0, 2.3, 2.5, and 2.8-liter turbocharged variants.
Production of this highly popular commercial vehicle concluded in 2006 when Fiat launched the third generation of the Ducato. However, production of the Fiat Ducato II in Brazil continued until 2018!
